Course summary
You will study: 1. Microeconomics: how markets work and fail, why governments provide healthcare for free, tax cigarettes, regulate electricity prices, and set a minimum wage. We study why governments sometimes make things worse, and how this can be avoided 2. Macroeconomics: how we measure a country’s economic performance, the causes and consequences of economic growth, unemployment, and inflation, what drives international trade and how that affects different countries. We study how governments use macroeconomic policy to manage the economy, how the international financial system works and is regulated.
