Students will study contemporary biology; including cutting edge biochemistry and genetics. This course will help to develop an interest and enthusiasm for biology and encourage students to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues. Modules are highly varied and give an excellent foundation for degree-level courses, apprenticeships and multiple career pathways. Biology is an exciting, but challenging course that develops skills in practical techniques, scientific communication, analysis and evaluation. It evidences the ability to work as a high-level academic and is highly regarded in universities. Students are extended in every lesson as material is applied to biology in real-life and A* material is regularly reviewed. There are trips (such as a sampling practical investigation at Slimbridge) that run for the whole cohort biannually.
