Course summary

Economics is one of the most interesting and relevant subjects that you can choose to study. The basic economic problem of scarcity means that choices have to be made in terms of how a limited amount of resources can meet an infinite amount of needs and wants. This problem faced by consumers, firms and governments forms the core subject content. Economics considers how markets are used as a mechanism for exchanging resources and examines how economies of nations operate in the global economy.

Entry requirements

Grade 6 at GCSE Business and/or Economics and Grade 6 in Maths and English Where subject not studied: Grade 6+ in GCSE English AND a grade 6+ GCSE Maths

3x 2 hour Examinations: Paper 1 = Markets & Market Failures Paper 2 = National & International Economy Paper 3 = Economic Principles & Issues
