
A practical and vocational course designed to provide a coherent introduction to the study of creative digital media production. The core units focus on various aspects of research, preproduction techniques and managing a production. You will also develop skills in editing, as well as learning how to read, analyse and deconstruct media texts. Through four set units you will develop an understanding of the media industry through analysing media texts and making your own productions.
Grade 4 or above in 5 X subjects at GCSE, including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics
UNIT 1 - Media Representations You will study how different media representations are constructed by producers to create meaning, messages and values. External examination UNIT 2 - Pre Production Portfolio You will study the requirements of planning and delivering a digital media product, carrying essential preproduction tasks and creating a preproduction portfolio. UNIT 3 - Responding to a Commission You will consider the commission process and how media producers respond to clients by generating ideas using a range of skills. UNIT 4 - External assessment Digital Magazine Production You will explore the codes and conventions of different magazine genres and platforms. You will create your own layout for a specific magazine genre.
