A Level Business Studies aims to develop knowledge and understanding of business theory and practice. The subject encourages students to think logically, as well as developing analytical and problem-solving skills. Choosing this 2 year Edexcel A Level Business course (9BS0), will give you an appreciation and understanding of how a business functions and achieves success in the UK environment. You also learn how to make business decisions and solve problems for one man run local businesses (sole trader), national companies, as well as global businesses.
Grade 5 or above in GCSE Business Studies (if taken) Grade 5 or above in GCSE English Language Grade 6 or above in GCSE Mathematics
Paper 1: Marketing, people and global businesses. 35% of the total qualification. Paper 1 will assess marketing, people and global businesses. Questions will be drawn from Themes 1 and 4, and from local, national and global contexts through data response question broken down into a number of parts, including one extended open response question. Paper 2 will assess business finance and operations, business decisions and strategy. Questions will be drawn from Themes 2 and 3, and from local, national and global contexts through data response question broken down into a number of parts, including one extended open-response question. Paper 3: will assess content across all four themes. Questions will be drawn from local, national and global contexts. For Paper 3, there will be a pre-released context document released in the November before the June exams, which requires students to carry out some research into a specific industry to better provide knowledge and understanding of that industry for the examination.
