
The A Level course aims to further an interest and enthusiasm for language learning. Students will develop an understanding of Spanish in a variety of contexts and will be able to communicate confidently and clearly for a range of purposes. Furthermore, the course aims to deepen awareness and understanding of the society and culture of Spain and the Spanish speaking world. Students will also acquire knowledge, skills and understanding for practical use and for further study and employment. Over the 2 years, students will study the Spanish language and culture. The topics covered are: social issues and trends and artistic and political culture in the Hispanic world. Through these topics students will discuss issues such as Modern and traditional values, Cyberspace, Equal rights, immigration, racism and integration, Today’s youth, tomorrow’s citizens, Monarchies and dictatorships, Popular movements, Modern day idols, Spanish regional identity and cultural heritage. Students will also cover a wide range of grammar and will study one text and one film or two texts from the list set in the specification.

Paper 1 - Listening, reading and writing Written exam: 2 hours 30 minutes 100 marks in total 50% of A-level Paper 2 - Written exam: 2 hours 80 marks in total 20% of A-level Paper 3 - Individual research Project Oral exam: 21–23 minutes (including 5 minutes preparation time) 60 marks in total 30% of A-level
