Course summary
Our BTEC Sport qualification opens doors for students who want to continue their education through applied learning, and who aim to progress to higher education or employment within the sports sector. This qualification is equivalent to one A-Level and students will study 4 units over the two-year course. Anatomy and Physiology explores how the skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular and respiratory systems function and the fundamentals of the energy systems. Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Wellbeing develops students understanding of client screening and lifestyle assessment, fitness training methods and fitness programming to support improvements in a client’s health and well-being. Professional Development in the Sports Industry examines the knowledge and skills required for different career pathways in the sports industry and Sports Psychology covers the psychological dimensions of sport and introduces psychological techniques that can be used to enhance performance. BTEC Sport requires students to bring together knowledge and understanding with practical and technical skills. This is achieved through students performing a combination of examination and vocational tasks that encourage the development of appropriate transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis. This qualification can open up a range of career opportunities including sports development, sports coaching, physiotherapy, personal training, or becoming one of the next generation of PE teachers. This course combines well with many subjects including the Sciences, Psychology and Dance.
