
Core Maths content includes applying mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, focusing on topics like data analysis, financial mathematics, mathematical modelling, and probability. It builds on GCSE knowledge with new content and emphasizes problem-solving, interpretation, and the use of technology. Key areas are data analysis, mathematical modelling, financial mathematics, and probability and statistics, often supported by the use of graphical calculators and spreadsheets. Why study? This one-year course is particularly suited to students who are not taking Maths A Level but wish to support the mathematical content of their chosen A Levels i.e. those students taking Economics, Business, Psychology or Geography. Core Maths is equivalent of half an A Level and carry a maximum tariff of 2O UCAS points if an A Grade is achieved towards university applications.
Core Maths can only be taken as an additional subject. Students must first select 3 other courses.
