Course summary

We follow the AQA specification. The topics studied in Year 12 include: • Aspects of society - The changing nature of family, The 'cyber society', Voluntary work. • Artistic culture - Culture and traditions, Contemporary francophone music, Cinema • We also study one film in depth – La haine Year 13 builds on the topics studied in Year 12: • Aspects of society – A diverse society, Life for the marginalised, How criminals are treated • Aspects of political life - Political commitment of teenagers, Demonstrations& strikes, Politics and Immigration • Study of a literary text - L’étranger • Individual research project Why Study? If you are inspired by language and culture, have enjoyed and excelled in your language studies so far, enjoy travel and communication then an A-Level Language is a smart choice! Students who choose A-Level Languages develop the knowledge and skills acquired at GCSE, gain a useful insight into another culture and reflect on various aspects of contemporary society. They also enhance their employment prospects, facilitate foreign travel and experience the enjoyment and motivation of improving their linguistic level.
