Course summary
A-Level Business Studies explores how organisations operate in local, national and global markets. Students will study marketing, finance, people management, operations, external influences, and strategic decision-making. Key themes include business growth, competitive advantage, globalisation, and how real firms respond to opportunities and challenges. Students will learn to analyse real businesses and apply theory to real-world situations. You will enjoy this course if you have an interest in how businesses operate, curiosity about marketing, finance, and decision-making, a desire to explore real business case studies, and an interest in leadership, people management or entrepreneurship. The key skills you will develop through studying Business include analytical and evaluative writing, problem-solving and decision-making, numerical and financial skills, the ability to interpret data and evidence and strategic and critical thinking. The possible career pathways a qualification in Business Studies may enable a student to pursue include careers in Business management, Marketing and digital marketing, Finance, accounting or banking, Human Resources and Retail and Operations Management. The other subjects that Business Studies complements include Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology, and Computer Science (for business analytics routes).
