Course summary

What are T Levels? This new qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels They are designed to bridge the divide between academic and apprenticeship routes in further education. They will provide you with the opportunity to: • Continue to university • Continue to a level 4/5 apprenticeship • Enter employment with a recognised qualification in that specialism. What does this course involve? This course is designed to prepare you to work directly with children in an early years setting. You will spend some time in the classroom learning about how children develop and learn and some time on industry placement, putting theory into practice. We will teach you the theories behind how children learn and develop and why they might behaviour in the way they do. We will ensure you are familiar with how early years practice fits into the wider context of education. We will prepare you for working in placement with other professionals and parents. By the end of this course you will be ready to work in an early years setting as a qualified member of staff, or to go on to university or higher level apprenticeships. What does an industry placement involve? You will be expected to complete 750 hours of work experience over the two year course. Placements will run from mid-October to February and February to July. Ideally you will do an introductory week in your placement and then work set days each week. You will be expected to work in two different placements over the two year course, covering age ranges birth to 5years old and five to seven year olds. In the first year of their studies you will be gaining experience, participating in and planning some activities. In the second year you will be completing the subject specialism project. This will involve you planning and carrying out specific activities in line with the EYFS. How are T Levels assessed?
