Course summary

“Without music, life would be a mistake.” Miles Davis, Jazz Trumpeter Music is all around us each and every day - what we choose to listen to, what we listen to without realising and what we create ourselves. The study of music allows students to develop their own style through the study of the works and performances of others. It will develop students understanding of the music they play which enables them to access it at a higher level, extending their appreciation of familiar and unfamiliar music. This specification offers a range of musical experience- including solo or ensemble performance, composition and analysis. Learners choose to specialise in composition or performance and will choose to learn in-depth about either Rock and Pop, Musical Theatre or Jazz.

Entry requirements

5 x GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, plus a Grade 6 in GCSE MUSIC and Grade 5 in an instrument or voice
