You will have to choose and complete a range of units, be organised, take assessments and keep a portfolio of your assignments. Structure There are 3 mandatory units learners must complete, 1 internal and 2 external. • Investigating Practitioners Work • Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance • Group Performance Workshop Learner must complete 1 optional unit • Classical Ballet Technique • Tap Dance Technique • Street Dance Technique • Jazz Dance Technique • Contemporary Dance Technique • Improvisation • Movement in Performance • Variety Performance Why Study? BTEC Nationals are widely recognized by industry and higher education as the signature vocational qualification at Level 3. They provide progression to the workplace either directly or via study at a higher level. BTEC Nationals are accepted by over 150 UK universities and higher education institutes for relevant degree programmes either on their own or in combination with A Levels. The course also allows you to develop a wide range of styles, making you a more well-rounded dancer. I would advise you to take this BTEC as you will learn not only about dance about a lot about yourself and how you work in a team, as well learning a new way to express yourself. Advice to students taking Dance •Work hard but be aware of yourself and your body •We have great dance teachers who will do their best to prepare you, so don’t stress!! •Embrace yourself and don’t be afraid to express your ideas. Dance is universal and there is so much that can be added. No idea is silly! •Take time to practice in your own time when you can. You can prepare for lessons and discover more about your style and yourself. •Most importantly enjoy yourself and have fun!!!
