Course summary

Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour. It is a science with cutting edge research that has real world applications to issues in everyday life ranging from artificial intelligence to social change. This course focuses on developing a thorough understanding of research methods and approaches in psychology. It offers a range of contemporary topics and encourages practical activities that demonstrate how science works. The course aims to develop transferable skills of analysis, evaluation, application and critical thinking which are valuable in any future career. You will become psychological thinkers. You will begin to understand psychology synoptically. This means that you will begin to see the links between different themes or ideas in psychology and how these relate to different approaches, research methods and debates.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including in Maths, and at least one science subject, plus a grade 6 in English or English Literature.
