Course summary

If you see your future in engineering, computing, finance, economics and the sciences at university and beyond, then you will benefit enormously from taking Further Mathematics. If you want to study Mathematics at university, then Further Mathematics is a must. The Maths A Level is linear, which means all content is examined at the end of Year 13. It mainly consists of Pure Maths with compulsory Mechanics and Statistics elements. Further Maths is taught alongside A Level Maths, but it has additional elements of Pure Maths, Mechanics and Statistics and it is also a linear qualification, i.e. all of the content is examined at the end of the course in Year 13. Maths A Level provides an excellent progression from GCSE into the first year of university. Further Maths is recommended to students who intend to study Mathematics, or a subject with significant mathematical components, at university. Further Mathematics will also boost your performance in single A Level Mathematics and make for an easier transition from A Level to degree courses which are mathematically rich.
