Course summary
Unit 1 Research Methods (30%) Year 1 In this unit you will develop knowledge and understanding of planning, conducting, analysing and reporting psychological research across a range of experimental and non-experimental methodologies. You will learn how to analyse data applying a range of statistical techniques. Unit 2 Psychological themes through Core Studies (35%) Year 1 This unit focuses on some of the central areas of investigation in psychology. For each theme, students will be taught both a classic and a contemporary study. The classic studies are ‘landmark’ pieces of research that have helped to shape the course of the subject. The contemporary studies are more ‘up to date’ pieces of research that engage in some way with the issues being explored in the classic studies they are paired with. Unit 3 Applied Psychology (35%) Year 2 Students consider a number of methodological issues and how they relate to a range of topics. Topics such as mental health and child psychology are covered.
