Course summary

Students continue to develop their listening, reading and writing skills for all three papers. There are four themes divided further into sub-themes, covering all three papers. Family and work in Pakistan, Folklore and cinema in the Urdu speaking world, Society and migration in Pakistan and Political culture in Pakistan. All these themes have research topics where students can select any one to prepare for the exam. These are: Education in Pakistan, Media, Emigration from Pakistan, and the Reaction of the government on environmental issues. Students will be using authentic and contemporary materials, which will develop their language to communicate effectively in the outside world. Along with this the following skills are developed in Urdu: the ability to transfer meaning from English into Urdu and from Urdu into English; the ability to evaluate the points of view and writing in a critical manner. Students will be using authentic material along with the recommended set text books.

Entry requirements

Five Level 9-4 grades including a Level 5 in this subject or following a teacher assessment.
