
Choosing this Course The Pearson Level 3 Alternative Academic Qualification BTEC National in Health and Social Care (Extended Certificate) allows students to engage in abroad investigation of various aspects of the health and social care sector. Students will study the growth and development and health conditions prevalent throughout seven life stages. Gaining a broad understanding of anatomy and physiology particularly relevant to students wishing to pursue careers in midwifery and nursing and a route into other areas such as Allied Health Professions and Social Work. The course also offers leaning about core principles, values and legislation that underpin and influence health and social care, and the effect of social determinants on an individual health status. The National Health Service and social care sector provide more jobs than any other sector in the United Kingdom. This qualification is equivalent to one A level. Course Content This course is made of a combination of mandatory externally assessed units, mandatory internally assessed unit and one optional unit. 1 Human Lifespan Development External 2 Human Biology and Health 3 Principles of Health and Social Care Practice 4 Optional unit TBC Career Opportunities The course, in conjunction with other study, forms an entry route to a wide range of university courses, such as nursing, midwifery, social work, radiography, social sciences and primary teaching. It can also lead into a higher-level apprenticeship or straight into employment. Following this course does not tie you into the health and social care sectors; it gives transferable skills which are relevant to a varied range of courses and careers. This qualification can lead to progression to the following degrees: · BSC Nursing · BSC Social Work · BSC Subjects Allied to Health
