
This course of study is designed to develop a greater understanding and appreciation of religious beliefs and teachings as well as the disciplines of ethics and philosophy. Learners will develop their skills of critical analysis in order to construct balanced, informed arguments and responses to religious, philosophical and ethical ideas. In Philosophy, learners will examine a nd study philosophical issues and questions raised by religion and belief. These include arguments regarding the existence or nonexistence of God, the nature and influence of religious experience and the problem of evil and suffering. Ethical theory will also be applied to issues of importance; namely euthanasia, business ethics and sexual ethics. Philosophy and Ethics will allow you to develop a critical understanding of major issues that are relevant to today’s world like the importance of interreligious dialogue, an appreciation of diversity and develop an academic perspective when discussing the controversial and sensitive issues of today’s world.
