
This is a one year course that may be studied in either Y12 or Y13. A career in the Science sector will allow you to push boundaries, innovate, and make new discoveries. If you want to pursue a career in science you could be working across various sectors, from research, to marine biology, to forensics and health sciences. Level 3 certificates in Applied Science are accepted by many universities worldwide as A-level equivalents. Employers and universities highly value the practical, real-world skills the learners demonstrate. It will lay the foundations for your future career.
You would be most likely to be accepted into the course if you have: 5 GCSEs at good grades (at least grade 4) including a minimum of 5-5 in combined science achievement in English and mathematics through GCSE to at least grade 4
Your understanding will be assessed through a mix of exams, practical work and assignments set by your teacher. 50% of the course is assessed by external assessment and 50% is assessed by coursework. The external assessments take place in January or May.
