Course summary

Physics gives you the opportunity to investigate and understand some of the fundamental laws of the universe, ranging from the tiniest particles of matter to vast star systems. A Level Physics involves hands on practical work, which allows you to apply theoretical concepts to real world situations. This practical aspect helps you develop skills in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific investigation. These skills are not only useful for future scientific research but also transferable to other fields. The units covered on this course include : Core topics - Measurements and Their Errors Particles and Radiation Waves Mechanics and Materials Electricity Further Mechanics and Thermal Physics Fields and Their Consequences Nuclear physics Optional Topic : Astrophysics A number of specifications will be changing and prospectus entries are based on information we have to date. This means that course content may be subject to change.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs to include grade 6 in Maths and 2 Science subjects and at least a 4 in English and one other subject

How you'll be assessed

Examination and practical endorsement. 3 exams at the end of the second year. Periodic Motion - 2 hours Thermal Physics - 2 hours Astrophysics and Practical Skills and Data Analysis - 1 hour 30 minutes
