A Level History (Ancient)

Course summary

In Year 12, you will initially focus on a period study on relations between the Greek states and between Greek and non-Greek states, including the victory over the Persian Empire (492–404 BC). The course will then focus on a depth study of the politics and society of Sparta (478-404 BC), including its educational values and military culture. In Year 13, you will initially study the development of the empire of Rome as a period study, examining the role of the Julio-Claudian Emperors, including two of the most notorious Emperors, Caligula, and Nero (31 BC-AD 68). The course will then focus on a depth study in Ruling Roman Britain (AD 43 – c.128), including the Roman conquest and expansion and resistance to Roman rule.
