Course summary
Law is an exciting subject, taught in a dynamic way, involving a wide range of learning activities. The study of law requires students to process a large volume of information relating to case law, acts of parliament, practices and procedure. This is a subject that also requires lateral thinking and enhances a student’s problem-solving skills. The course details the legal system in England and Wales, examining how different sources of law are created and used. Students will also study substantive areas of law – criminal law, tort and contract law. Topics such as murder, manslaughter, negligence and nuisance will be studied, and these areas of law will then be applied to scenarios. Finally, A level Law also examines the current legal system in relation to concepts such as morality and the definition of justice.
