Course summary
A level Art and Design engages students in both practical and written creative studies. The course content requires individual exploration and development of each student’s: • Personal ideas through contextual research and analysis • Ability to record their ideas in a visual way • Experimentation with appropriate media, materials, technique and processes • Ability to present a personal and meaningful response There is a predominant focus on drawing, which will be the basis for building a portfolio of work that is both personal and informed. Opportunities exist for students to take part in residential Art courses and gallery visits. Teachers provide extended skills workshops and one-to-one tuition as part of the course.
