Course summary

The A Level course in Spanish provides learners with opportunities to appreciate the diverse and captivating culture of Spanish and Hispanic countries, in addition to understanding the complex syntax that underpins the language. A wide range of contemporary and controversial topics are covered to enhance the study of the language and its linguistics. From the very outset of the course, learners of the language are given the strategies and skills to be able to participate in the classroom, using and understanding the Spanish spoken language for real purposes. The course comprises increasing communication at an advanced level and requires students to be creative with the language, in terms of discursive essays and debating skills, which often complement other subjects. Students will be expected to develop their independent skills, investing time in their weekly assignments, as well as further developing the skill set of the GCSE Spanish course.
