A Level Chemistry will give you an exciting insight into the contemporary world of chemistry. It covers the key concepts of chemistry and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. Using a combination of academic challenge and practical focus you will learn about chemistry in a range of different contexts and the impact it has on industry and many aspects of everyday life. You will learn to investigate and solve problems in a range of contexts. The four modules taken in the first year cover practical skills, the foundations of atoms, bonds and chemical changes, the energetics of chemical reactions and an introduction to organic (carbon-based) chemistry. The second year fosters a deeper appreciation of chemical energetics, organic chemistry and quantitative analyses.
At least 5 level 9-4 grades at GCSE including level 4 in Design and Technology, Art or Photography. In some level 4 cases, work may be reviewed by the staff for suitability to the A-Level course.
