Course summary
A Level German opens a world of opportunities. Work for the modules is drawn from the following topics: Theme 1: Aspects of German-speaking society • Family • Digital world • Youth culture; fashion, music and TV Theme 2: Artistic culture in the German-speaking world • Festivals and traditions • Art and architecture • Berlin culture Theme 3: Multi-culturalism in the German-speaking world • Immigration • Integration • Racism Theme 4: Aspects of political life in the German-speaking world • Germany and the EU • Politics and young people • Reunification and its consequences There will also be the study of a book and a film from a German speaking country. Many employers value young people with additional language skills e.g. travel agents, law firms. A language degree offers varied career and business prospects both in the UK and abroad. Year 12 are taught in a group with Year 13 students.
