Why take the course? Psychology is a popular subject because it develops a range of valuable skills, including critical analysis, independent thinking and research. Summary of what is studied (specification) In Year 12 the topics taught are: social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology, approaches in psychology, biopsychology, research methods. In Year 13 the topics taught are: issues and debates in psychology and one of the topics from each of the three sections: Option 1: relationships, gender, cognition and development Option 2: schizophrenia, eating behaviour, stress Option 3: aggression, forensic psychology, addiction Where could this qualification take you? A Level Psychology links directly to the following career paths: clinical psychologist, counselling psychologist, educational psychologist, forensic psychologist, health psychologist, occupational psychologist, wellbeing practitioner, sports and exercise psychologist. It is also useful if you are interested in a career in counselling/advice, human resources, marketing, police or uniformed services, education, therapy/ coaching.
