Course summary

From making a cup of tea to charging a mobile phone, chemistry is involved in everything we do. Chemistry is at the forefront of advances in designing new materials, energy use, drug development and technology – pretty much every aspect of life. If you like to ask ‘why?’ and find the answer, this is the course for you. Why study Chemistry? Chemistry explores the building blocks of all living and nonliving substances and tries to explain why certain substances interact with each other, how they interact and what happens when they interact. Chemistry will challenge your ideas and concepts and hopefully give you an appreciation of the way Chemistry is used in all aspects of everyday life.
