
The AAQ in Health and Social Care is a vocationally-related qualification equivalent to one A Level (and carrying the same UCAS points) which helps prepare students for employment in the health or social care sectors or for higher education. Students complete a number of mandatory units: *Principles of health and social care - Equality, diversity, and rights, Managing hazards, health and safety, Legislation, Best practice. *Person-centred approach to care -Taking a person-centred approach, Meeting needs and providing support in a person-centred way, Communication skills, *Supporting people with mental health conditions - Definitions and views of mental health, Mental health conditions, Provision of mental health services and Treatment and support for mental health conditions and a wide range of optional units. Students will also benefit from completing work experience within the sector and undertaking a First Aid course.
