
Equivalent to 1 A Level, this course provides you with a broad understanding of working in the Healthcare and Social Care sector. You will be assessed by two exam units (amounting to 40% of the course). Topics include equality, diversity, rights and understanding current laws in health and social care settings. Biological knowledge and anatomy is learnt in relation to twelve major diseases or conditions of the body. The four coursework units (amounting to 60% of the course) are based around the topics of Mental Health, Person-centred Care, Sexual Health, Pregnancy, Nutrition and Lifestyle. In each case students put themselves into the role of a professional and consider the impact of professional practice on their service users.
Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above to include a minimum of Grade 4 in Maths GCSE or English (Language or Literature) GCSE Plus Grade 4 in GCSE English. Grade 4 in GCSE Biology/Science is recommended but not essential
