Course summary

You’ll develop a deep understanding of advanced mathematical concepts and learn to solve complex problems independently. The course builds on GCSE knowledge, covering topics such as algebra, exponentials and logarithms, geometry, sequences, and series. You’ll learn to construct clear mathematical arguments using diagrams, graphs, logical reasoning, and precise communication. The course focuses on recognizing patterns and simplifying data to tackle problems in varied contexts. Assessment is through three two-hour written exams, each worth one-third of your final grade, featuring a mix of short questions and multi-step problems. Successful completion demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, valued by universities and employers alike. If you aim for top grades and careers in STEM fields, further maths is also recommended.
