
The Health & Social Care AAQ is a Level 3 qualification equivalent to one A Level, designed to prepare students for careers in health, social care, early years, and community justice. Human Lifespan and Development: Factors affecting growth, different care interventions, and the various professionals involved. Human Biology and Health: Understanding the human body's structure, normal functioning, and the impact of common disorders. Health and Social Care Practice: Core principles, values, legislation, and the social determinants of health. Promoting Health Education: The purpose and use of different approaches and models to achieve positive health outcomes. Sixth Form Entry Requirements: 5 Grade 5s at GCSE
Assessment is through a combination of both externally assessed exams (50%) and internally assessed work (50%). Students must complete three mandatory units and one optional unit. Mandatory units – Externally assessed: 1. Human Lifespan and Development 2. Human Biology and Health 3. Principles of Health and Social Care Practice Internally assessed Optional units – students complete one unit (to be chosen by the teacher): 4. Health, Policy and Wellbeing 5. Promoting Health Education 6. Safe Environments in Health and Social Care 7. Health Science
