Course summary
Our course is ideal for learners who want to explore how mental health and wellbeing shape individuals and society. It suits both vocational and academic students aiming for university or careers in psychology, counselling, public health, or health and social care. Across two years, learners study key topics such as the fundamentals of mental health, mental wellbeing in society, supporting mental health in organisations, and community-based wellbeing initiatives, with optional units on physical activity, outdoor, and creative approaches. Assessment includes a combination of exams and coursework, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practical, real-world contexts. The course develops essential transferable skills, including communication, research, teamwork, and critical thinking, through theory, applied projects, guest speakers, and visits to relevant settings. Available as a Certificate (half an A Level) or Extended Certificate (full A Level), the qualification carries UCAS points and complements A Levels or other Level 3 courses, providing a strong foundation for progression to higher education or careers in mental health and wellbeing.
