Course summary

The world around us is constantly changing, and the study of Politics has never been more relevant or fascinating than it is today. The A Level Politics course delves into questions of how the decisions that dictate our lives are made and who truly has the power to create change. Using up-to-date examples, students will be encouraged to ask and answer difficult questions to develop their critical thinking skills and enhance their ability to interpret, evaluate and reach substantiated judgments upon the nature of politics. We follow the Edexcel A Level course, which covers three areas: Paper 1: UK Politics and Core Political Ideas: Democracy and Participation, Political Parties, Electoral Systems, and Voting Behaviour, as well as the theories of Liberalism, Conservatism and Socialism. Paper 2: UK Government and Non-core Political Ideas: The UK Constitution, Parliament, the Prime Minister, and Relations between Political Institutions, and Feminism.
