Our Biology course is taught by two tutors who both have 10 years of experience in delivering Biology. The course covers a wide range of topics including anatomy and physiology, genetics, conservation, ecology and biochemistry. You will be involved in practical investigations which allow the planning and evaluation of experiments.
Our general entry requirements are that you need 5 Grade 6s in your GCSEs to study A Levels. One of these Grade 6s must be Biology or Double Science. It is recommended that you have a grade 6 in Maths, although this not essential.
A Level Biology is a linear qualification which means that assessment will take place at the end of the course. The A Level will be 100% externally assessed, there are no coursework elements. Students will be expected to complete 12 core practicals throughout the course. Teacher assessment of student skills, techniques and competency when completing practical work will count towards the Practical Endorsement at A Level. This is separate to the A level grade and if awarded, will be recorded as a ‘Pass’ on A Level certificates.
