Our course is taught by a team who have extensive experience of teaching English Literature. The course covers an exciting range of literature including Shakespeare, modern and pre-nineteenth century poetry, modern drama and novels. At the end of Year 1, you will prepare your non-exam assessment (NEA). This is an extended comparative essay of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and a novel of your choice.
Our general entry requirements are that you need 5 Grade 6s in your GCSEs to study A Levels. One of these Grade 6s must be for English Literature.
80% of the course is assessed by examination at the end of the 2-year course. Paper 1 is a 3-hour exam, and Paper 2 is a 2-hour and 30-minute exam. The NEA is worth 20% of the final mark.
