
This course provides learners with a minimum of 360 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) the equivalent of one A Level and is completed as a full time course over 2 years. Learners will complete 5 units in total 3 of which are mandatory units. 3 are studies in year 12 and 2 in year 13. Mandatory Units • Fundamentals in Science (90 GLH) • Science in Society (90 GLH) • Investigating Science (90 GLH) 2 Optional Unit (60 GLH each) chosen by SFH6 • Environmental Studies • Analytical techniques in Chemistry Types of Assessment • Assignment- Set by OCR (the exam board) and marked internally • Written exam - Set and marked by OCR Why Study? We offer a two year Level 3 Extended Certificate in Applied Science. This provides an opportunity for learners of 16-19 to learn transferable skills and gain a recognized qualification within the science sector.
