A-level mathematics is an exciting but demanding course. This qualification requires students to demonstrate the overarching knowledge and skills contained in problem solving, modelling, language and proof. These must be applied, along with associated mathematical thinking and understanding, across the whole of the detailed content. A benefit of choosing this course is that it compliments other A Levels including the Arts as it is a different style of learning. It also helps develop understanding for other A Levels like the Sciences. A Level Maths builds on the knowledge from higher GCSE.
Students need to have a good understanding of higher level GCSE Maths to access the course- ideally a high grade 6 or 7 at least. Students will take an assessment at the start of the course to identify those students who will need extra support.
Three 2 hour exams sat at the end of year 2.
