
Fine Art is an expressive and inventive artistic response which can be developed using a broad range of media, processes and techniques. While exploring and developing artistic skills, students need to be able to work independently whilst being creative thinkers, They need to be passionate about investigating the world visually as well as being highly motivated, and experimental with their work. Responding visually to their research, identity, life, social, current or world issues.
The specifications build on the knowledge, understanding and skills specified for GCSE Art & Design. Grade 6 or above and the ability to work independently are therefore essential.
Non-exam assessment set by centre and externally moderated after centre marking. A written element of between 1000 and 3000 words is included. Submit: Jan/Feb 60% contribution to final mark. Marked internally in its entirety, then externally moderated. The preparatory period followed by 15 hours of supervised time. 15hr Controlled Assessment: April/May 40% contribution to final mark.
