
Biology covers how everything in the natural world functions, from plant to human life. It is extremely relevant to the world today as examples of biology can be seen everywhere in life. You will gain a broad range of knowledge of how living systems work, including the principles of genetics, molecules, taxonomy, natural selection, evolutionary theory, global warming, bacteria and viruses, amongst others.
At least a Grade 7 or above in GCSE Combined Science or in GCSE Biology, and at least a Grade 6 at GCSE in Mathematics (with a Grade 7 or higher recommended). All required GCSEs must be at Higher Tier.
Three 2 hour papers at the end of the two year course, a combination of short and long answers along with practical techniques. Students who demonstrate the required standard across all the requirements of the Common Practical Assessment Criteria (CPAC) will receive a ‘pass’ grade.
