Course summary

Over the course of the two years, you will study a range of topics as they relate to the French speaking world. These include: - social issues and trends. - political, intellectual and/or artistic culture. - being a young person in a French speaking society. - diversity and understanding the French speaking world. - France between 1940 and 1950. The occupation and post-war years. You will also study two pieces of literary texts or a piece of literary text and a film.

Entry requirements

A minimum of a grade 6 in GCSE French.

How you'll be assessed

ASSESSMENT Students will have to sit three exams: Component 1 is a speaking exam that lasts between 21 and 23 minutes. Students present a research project they carry out independently and then discuss the content with the examiner. They will also have a short discussion based on a stimulus (30% of the final grade). Component 2 is an exam with a listening, reading and translation task (50% of the final grade). Component 3 is two essays based on two literary works or one literary work and a film chosen from a prescribed list (20% of the final grade)
