The study of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods, both at an individual market (micro) level, and at a national and international (macro) level. An interest in current affairs is important. As a social science, the descriptive and analytical nature of this subject makes it ideal for either ‘Arts’ or ‘Science’ students. Assessment structure: Paper 1: Markets and Market Failure Paper (33⅓%) Paper 2: National and International Economy Paper (33⅓%) Paper 3: Economic Principles and Issues (33⅓%) Each paper is assessed via a 2-hour exam at the end of the course. Complementary courses: Mathematics, Natural Sciences, History, Geography, Politics, Sociology, Politics and English Literature. Leads to: Any humanities, finance, or natural science-based degree course; apprenticeships in finance and accounting.
