Exam board - Pearson/Edexcel This Alternative Academic Qualification is the equivalent of one A Level. Minimum requirements for the course: Grade 4, 4 in Combined Science. If studying separate sciences then must have Grade 4 in at least two of the sciences. Staff contact: Mrs Majithia emj@cheneyschool.org What is Applied Science AAQ all about? Applied Science contains aspects of A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics and applies the content to a vocational setting. Transferable skills such as research, communication, teamwork and analysis are taught over the duration of the course. Course structure: 50% of the total qualification is made up of external assessment. The other 50% is assessed internally. Unit 1: Principles and Applications of Biology (60 minute exam). Unit 2: Principles and Applications of Chemistry (60 minute exam). Unit 3: Principles and Applications of Physics (60 minute exam). Unit 4: Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques (coursework) Unit 5: Science Investigation Skills (coursework) Complementary courses: Business, Health & Social Care, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography. Leads to: Degrees in Nursing, Medical Science and Applied Science or through foundation years into Engineering and other pure sciences. Resources: TBC. This is a new course so we are awaiting new materials from publishers. Bursary students will be able to request these from the Bursary Fund.
