Spanish A Level has been developed to inspire all students who have an appreciation of the language, literature, film and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. You will develop an advanced level of knowledge and understanding of the Spanish language as well as practical and valuable language skills. We focus on many interesting topics including immigration, integration, changes in society and the recent history and current politics of Spain. Course structure: Paper 1: Listening, Reading and Translation (40%) – 2 hours Paper 2: Written response to book/film studied and Translation (30%) – 2 hours 40 Paper 3: Speaking (internally conducted & externally assessed) (30%) – 22 minutes Complementary courses: Other Modern Languages, English Literature, History, Fine Art, Geography, Business, Latin, Classical Civilisation, Politics. Sciences and Mathematics also work well to broaden students’ horizons when heading towards Medicine. Leads to: Spanish degree, often combined with many other subjects, e.g. Spanish and Law / History / International Relations / Philosophy / Politics / Economics / Business. Many jobs in communication, translation, journalism, publishing and teaching, as well as providing another platform for any job in a foreign country.
