Exam board – Pearson/Edexcel Minimum requirements for the course: Grade 4, 4 in Combined Science. If studying separate sciences then students must have Grade 4, 4 in at least two of the sciences. Staff contact: Mrs Lynch, bly@cheneyschool.org What is Health and Social Care AAQ all about? The study of humans, their development and supporting needs. It combines elements of sociology, biology, nutrition, law and ethics. Health Care professions include medical nursing homes, GP services and hospital activities, whilst Social Care professions are in areas such as residential care, nursing and social work. Course structure: 50% of the total qualification is made up of external assessment. The other 50% is assessed internally. Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development (90 minute exam) Unit 2: Human Biology and Health (90 minute exam) Unit 3: Principles of Health and Social Care Practice (coursework) Unit 7 : Health Science (coursework) Complementary courses: Other sciences such as Applied Science AAQ, Sport ScienceBTEC, Biology, social sciences. Leads to: Vocational degree courses such as social work, nursing and occupational therapy and other science-based degree courses. Resources: TBC. This is a new course so we are awaiting new materials from publishers. Bursary students will be able to request these from the Bursary Fund.
