Course summary
Textiles involves the creation and transformation of materials to explore and produce personal, practical, and contextual investigations within the specialism. Although the course is mostly Fine Art Textiles, it will also bring together elements of fashion, furnishing, and illustration. It is the perfect course for students with a creative flair, an enthusiasm for experimentation, and a passion for drawing. You will enjoy the creative challenge of exploring and working with a wide range of natural and manufactured materials, including wool, plastics, cloth, and paper, developing outcomes within printed, dyed, and constructed textiles. Drawing is an essential skill for studying this subject and is integral to Textile Design practice. You will explore a whole range of Fine Art textiles techniques such as hand embroidery, experimental fabric manipulation, and appliqué.
