BTEC Creative Digital Media Production

Course summary
This practical course enables you to research a range of media industries before planning, creating and evaluating your own products in a variety of media formats such as television advertising, short films, music videos and magazines. The course enables you to start building a range of technical skills and knowledge, which will help you begin working professionally in various sectors of media production. You will gain insight into career opportunities available in the media industry, enabling you to make an informed choice regarding career progression or moving on to further study. Students complete the Extended Certificate course within the two year study, gaining a qualification that is equivalent to one A Level. Students are taught through teacher-led workshops combined with independent work, usually completed on computers, preparing students for their online exams. Practical production work is also predominantly computer-based using software such as the Affinity Suite or Final Cut Pro for video editing. Media equipment is available to borrow for practical productions too. Students can progress straight into employment in careers such as: Audio-Visual Technician, Radio Sound Engineer or TV/Film Editor. The qualification can also lead to progression onto a higher education course at university.
