Welcome to Thomas Tallis School
EDUCATION TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD& CHANGE IT FOR THE BETTERWe are delighted you are considering Tallis. We are a highly successful sixth form centre, amongst the best in South London. You should know that we’re amongst the top sixth forms in Britain for the value we add to our students’ progress. Others agree we’re doing a good job: OFSTED have found our sixth form to be Outstanding. We achieve our remarkable results with minimal entry criteria, but we ask for a really strong work ethic. Our staff and our students aim high. Last year we put almost 325 students into university, and 30 into art college. We placed almost 40% of our students at Russell Group universities, including Oxbridge. Our students are much in demand at the best universities in Britain. What are we about as a sixth form? We want our students to thrive academically, while also flourishing morally, socially and emotionally. Our sixth form students work exceptionally hard, and work independently. They are disciplined and persistent, and much else besides. We teach these habits of mind, so we don’t expect Year 11 students to metamorphose into serious and studious sixth formers overnight, but we have high standards for conduct and high expectations. Our course offer is challenging: we only offer A-levels and BTEC Level III courses. Nearly all of our students expect to use these as a springboard into university, art colleges, conservatoires or higher apprenticeships. We have more than 600 sixth form students on roll presently, and as a large Post 16 centre we can therefore offer a huge range of courses taught by specialist staff. We offer outstanding pastoral care and guidance about art college, performing arts courses, university and apprenticeships.
