Welcome to Lansdowne School
Welcome to Lansdowne School!
Lansdowne School is situated a short walk from the centre of vibrant Brixton. We have a purpose built school for young people aged 11-19 years of age who have autism, or a speech and language delay, as well as special educational needs.
We are an active part of the community and take advantage of the local and wider London area to support our academic and personal and social development curriculum. The wide range of transport opportunities close to the school, for example, allow our students to develop independent living skills, including cycling. Forest School and the Duke of Edinburgh Award build resilience, confidence and self-esteem. Post 16 students welcome all to our Enterprise Café.
We recognise our students as individuals and students follow individual learning pathways, which support accreditation and workability.
We welcome you to our web-site, or please feel free to book a tour of the school, which take place every Thursday at 11.30am.

Enrichment Activities
Show all activitiesRoots and shoots offers students a chance to get hands on with the outdoors in a setting where skills and practical knowledge are fostered. We work closely with tutors and teachers to achieve certificates such as land management. Lansdowne students get the opportunity to build, plant and create within the two hour workshops, allowing for growth and development in their knowledge of horticulture. Some of the activities students have completed include planting seasonal fruits and vegetables, managing compost and mulch across the garden, using the correct tools for specific jobs and making meals with the food they harvest. Roots and Shoots is a kind and nurturing environment for students to learn about patience, hard work and responsibility, whilst getting outdoors in an urban city farm located close to school. Students have enjoyed being able to eat the fruits of their labour (literally), and learn how to harvest at the correct times. We have also been able to develop communication skills whilst working alongside volunteers and community members within the garden.
At Lansdowne School we pride ourselves on student progression and outdoor activity. We have a large number of bikes and scooters to suit all needs and our PE department provide regular cycling lessons for students to gain confidence riding.
We are proud to say our 'Enterprise Cafe' is up and running and available for all to come and visit us and have a coffee and cake supplied by our hard working students. Our team have worked very hard to get the cafe up and running and provide great Tea, Coffee and Cakes at great prices for anyone who wants to visit.
